Privacy Policy

Data Collection
WalkingMate does not collect any personal data.
The app:
- Does not track your usage
- Does not collect analytics
- Does not send any data to external servers (other than iCloud, see below)
- Does not use any third-party services, analytics tools, or advertising networks
Bluetooth Access (Mac)
The Mac app requires Bluetooth access to:
- Connect to your WalkingPad treadmill
- Send control commands (start, stop, speed adjustment)
- Receive workout data (speed, distance, steps)
WalkingMate only communicates with your WalkingPad device.
iCloud Sync
WalkingMate uses Apple's CloudKit to sync workout data between your Mac and iOS devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is only accessible by you. We cannot access your iCloud data.
Synced data includes:
- Workout history (date, duration, distance, steps, calories)
You can disable iCloud sync in System Settings.
Apple Health (iOS)
The iOS companion app can integrate with Apple Health to:
- Read your body weight to calculate calories burned
- Write workout data (walking workouts, steps, distance, calories)
This data stays on your device and in your Apple Health database. WalkingMate does not transmit Health data to any external servers.
Local Data Storage
WalkingMate stores preferences locally on your device:
- WalkingPad connection settings
- App preferences (keyboard shortcuts, step correction factor)
- Launch at login preference
This data is removed when you uninstall the app. You can export your workout data to CSV at any time.
Children's Privacy
WalkingMate does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new policy on this page with an updated revision date.
